Chiropractic Decompression in Palm Beach Gardens with Triton DTS
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is a relatively new technology used to treat disc abnormalities or injuries in the neck and lower back. Decompression Therapy is safe and utilizes equipment approved by the FDA.
In therapy for the low back, a patient lies comfortably face-up (or the stomach) on the decompression table with a “belt” fit snugly around their waist. For neck treatments, a patient lies comfortably on their back with a pair of soft rubber pads behind the neck. Patients are quite comfortable during their therapy sessions and tolerate the therapy well. Therapy begins with a period when no force is applied, allowing the muscles to relax. Traction is then applied in brief intervals of gentle stretching, followed byresting periods. Within the chiropractic industry, the Triton DTS® Traction System is known to be on of the best available. It has received numerous awards for performance and several endorsements from respected medial authorities.
Decompression therapy applies distraction forces to spinal structures in a precise and graduated cycle. The “pulling” is not constant throughout a patient’s therapy session, rather it is interrupted by several cycles of relaxation. The decompression technique gently separates each vertebrae, creating a vacuum inside the targeted discs. The goal of decompression therapy is to induce the retraction of the herniated or bulging disc(s) into the inside of the disc and off the nerve root, thecal sac, or both. The retraction is not instant . It and occurs slowly over four to six weeks. The cycles of decompression and partial relaxation, over a series of visits, promote the diffusion of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids from the outside of the discs to the inside. These nutrients enable the torn and degenerated disc fibers to begin to heal. The results can be quite dramatic.
Non-Surgical, Spinal Decompression is an effective treatment for conditions such as bulging discs, herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, radiating arm pain, degenerative disc disease, leg pain, and facet syndromes. Dr. Beth understands that appropriate patient screening is imperative, and only those that will benefit from care are accepted. Look no further for Chiropractic Decompression in Palm Beach Gardens. Palm Beach Gardens Decompression Treatment
Do you suffer from any of the following conditions?
- Degenerative discs
- Sciatica
- Herniated discs
- Spinal stenosis
If so, you may benefit from decompression therapy.
Back and neck pain are often times very debilitating conditions. Treatment of these conditions include a combination of therapies in order to relieve pressure on the spine. Compression of the spinal column occurs when the bones in the spine move closer together from things such as injury, age, or osteoporosis. These conditions may cause damaging compression on the spinal cord resulting in leg, neck, shoulder, or back pain. The pain felt is usually caused by a disc pushing out between any available spaces of a vertebrae in order to compensate for a lack of space. The disc can get pinched or trapped outside of where it naturally rests.
Spinal decompression therapy relieves the compression on the disc, allowing injuries to heal, your spinal column to return to its natural position, and compressed bones to align into a healthy position. The Triton DTS is often used successfully prior to, or in place of risky surgeries when and where appropriate for the carefully chosen patient. Decompression Therapy may also correct conditions that surgery has failed to relieve. The Triton DTS System features state-of-the-art technology to manipulate key areas of your spine safely, effectively, and quite comfortably.
The Triton DTS precisely controls traction, gently pulling compressed vertebrae apart without the associated muscle clenching that accompanies some other traction therapies. The Triton cycles through a carefully programmed session of stretching individual vertebrae. The stretching of vertebrae creates a vacuum and causes the a protruding disc to snap back into their proper position within the spinal column, thereby relieving pressure on the nerves that may be causing your neck, arm, and/or leg pain. The vacuum created also allows restoration of hydrating blood, oxygen, and nutrients to damaged tissues, enhancing the healing process.

How long has spinal decompression therapy been available?
The FDA cleared spinal decompression therapy in the 1990s and it has been growing in popularity ever since.
How is spinal decompression therapy different from regular spinal traction?
Regular traction involves continuous pulling on the spine. In many cases, a patient’s muscle will fight against the traction, thereby making some treatment attempts ineffective.
Spinal Decompression Therapy however, provides computer programmed intermittent spinal traction which effectively keeps the spinal muscles from going into spasm. In many cases, it is why decompression may be a much more effective treatment protocol than regular spinal traction.
When is Spinal Traction Therapy used?
There are several conditions of the back and neck that may receive benefit from spinal decompression therapy on the Triton DTS. For example, patients that present with bulging or ruptured discs in the back or neck, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, facet syndrome, and patients that have experienced a failed neck or back surgery (without instrumentation).
What is the science behind spinal decompression therapy?
The Triton DTS delivers intermittent traction to patients on decompression therapy. Intermittent traction is effective in that it does not cause muscle spasm, like that which is associated with regular traction. The spine is pulled during treatment causing negative pressure between the intervertebral disc space. This allows blood flow into the injured area, bringing with it nutrients and oxygen to repair damage. It also allows any protruding disc area to return to its natural position, relieving nerve root compression pain from sciatica and spinal stenosis.
Individuals with chronic back pain due to either facet arthritis or degenerative disc disease may receive exceptional results from treatment on the Triton DTS. In addition, those with spinal stenosis along with sciatica or pinched nerves may also receive substantial pain relief. Candidates whose back surgery did not bring expected relief, and those with significant neck arthritis are also indicated for the treatment on the Triton DTS (as long instrumentation does not exist).
Who should not have treatment with spinal decompression?
It is important that patients are aware that not everyone is a candidate for spinal decompression therapy on the Triton DTS. There are contraindications. Patients that are pregnant, patients that have severe osteoporosis, and those who have had fusion with instrumentation in place are not candidates for spinal decompression on the Spinal DTS.
How many treatments are necessary?
Research suggests that between 15 to 20 treatments are necessary to receive the full benefit of therapy. Of course, because each patient protocol is individualized, recommendations and treatment protocols may differ.
How much is the treatment and does insurance cover it?
Over the past 10 years, treatment costs for decompression therapy have come down significantly. Namaste Chiropractic’s staff will work with you and your insurance company to seek the best coverage benefits possible. Patients are encouraged to speak with their insurance providers about their individual coverages for decompression therapy as well.
Are there risks with the treatment?
There is minimal risk associated with decompression therapy on the Triton DTS. In very few cases, sciatica symptoms have become more pronounced. Although very rare, osteoporotic fracture may occur. Again, this is a very rare occurrence. Spinal Decompression Therapy provides a low risk, non-invasive, high benefit treatment option for suffering patients.
